An honorary consulate supports and signposts — it does not replace Romania's career consular offices. Being clear about the difference saves you time and a wasted journey.

What we cannot do
Issue or renew passports or identity cards
Grant or process visas
Handle citizenship applications
Register births, marriages or deaths (civil status)
Perform notarial acts or authenticate documents
Collect consular fees
Under Romanian consular regulations these services are reserved to career consular officers and cannot be performed by an honorary consul.
